how could they know just what this message means
the end of my hopes, the end of all my dreams

inconveniences
suffering from a headache and a swollen throat. I'm in the in between stages of getting sick. also, i have bug bites from walking in the grass barefoot, and my excema is acting up from the heat. all this is making me quick tempered and annoyed.

today

it really felt like a summer day from my youth. the slight breeze, and the smell of sunblock that greased my skin. there wasn't much to think about except swimming, r.l. stine books, brady bunch re-runs, and orange colored popsicles. this is also when the smell of gardenias radiated from my backyard, and when i thought microwaving ravioli was a culinary feat. i compared all this to my life today, and the thought of reduction is omnipotent

also,
several iconic deaths this past week (michael jackson, farrah fawcett, bill mays, etc) and although i write this like an afterthought, i'm slightly in shock.

one more thing
my playwriting instructor from ucsb and i reconnected recently, and her statement of "...hope you're still writing" felt shocking. it reminded of a time when all i wanted to do was write.

and, all this heat
reminds me of oklahoma

don't worry about a thing, everythings going to be all right

hello, another week
tuesday, the artcenter & caltech students videoconferenced the industrial design students in guatemala. wow, technology

today
morning: design process midterms. its definitely something new to be on the other side. i have to say, honesty is not so easy, but they inspire me

night: had dinner with k and b at a vietnamese restaurant. had really delicious diy springrolls. also watched transformers with k

mood
hormonal and extremely crazy

things on my mind
beings personally invested- what we choose to be personally invested in- its worth and un-worth, and the decisions i make

big purchases on my mind
- a bicycle
- a nicer camera. i really love photography. considered it a hobby, but now i'm considering taking it a bit more seriously

she lacks the indefinable charm of weakness

looking back- chicago
a few photos of my recent trip to chicago

kidney stones
got news that A was in the hospital for kidney stones. went to visit her. she's in good recovery.

design process
- went to a design process presentation. big turn out! Got to catch the last part of the lecture with ideo's roshi givechi. super interesting and also very inspiring
- sat in on a "interactive design" course at school. roshi givenchi was there for the crits and her comments were thoughful and very insightful
- met with the caltech kiddies again and watched "cracking the mayan code" which was a great short documentary

weekend notes
- baked a simple fruit cobbler
- watched a japanese film "Departure" with K. i thought it was horrible
- also visited space 20/15 for their yard sale

things that frustrate me
- when people don't care (and in turn- my time becomes wasted)
- predictability

things on my mind
the colors gray/blue & iran

If you want to view paradise
Simply look around and view it

hi there
its been so long, hasn't it? with twitter, it almost feels as if i can cheat myself out of updating

a simple review of things
- went to chicago and had a grand time with mom and brother. it was great seeing the art institute, seeing where my brother lived, eating really good food, going on boat tours, and basically roaming the city. wish i could have been there longer
- on and off working at the colors and materials lab at school and participating in an amazing colors, materials & finishes workshop. attempting to re-work a chair i did last term. really enjoying it
-reading books, obsessing over shows online
-listening to a lot of philip glass
-watching a lot of small documentaries
-seeing friends here and there
-assisting in a design process class at school. i didn't think i'd enjoy it so much as i do.
-heading to guatemala in august for an art center/cal tech joint project. our group has been preparing for it.

what else
just trying to be productive- but really enjoying myself- this break. a time to re-examine things. feeling a lot of gratitude

i heard
a quote on some silly show which went "there isn't a right or wrong, but only the consequences of your actions" and for some reason, i keep thinking about this.

yesterday
i went to see jennie in santa monica and to visit her new home. So quaint and perfect for her. it suits her well. walked to urth cafe and had a really delicious vegetable salad and a tea latte. gloomy weather was nice

today
i attempted the rose bowl but was intimidated by the crowds. went to school for some unfinished business, and went to a record store down colorado which i've always wanted to check out. loved it. purchased Koyaanisqatsi by philip glass (again, current obsession). i know a lot of people don't like glass much- but his music rings really true to me. and its so beautiful, really

some documentarries i've watched
glass: portrait in 12 parts
49 up
dear zachary
iconoclast- season 4
seoul train
snuff (but had to stop halfway b/c it was horrible)
fast, cheap, & out of control
a certain kind of death
blindsight
forgiving dr. mengele
this american life season 1

things of fiction
i've also watched several very shitty movies- those of which i fail to recall. however, i did manage to watch all two seasons of californication- and this show deserves full praise. i think a great tv show is hard to come by, and i give full respect for people who make this happen. entertaining is hard. which brings me to comedy. i love comedians, and have been listening to some richard pryor. his wiki bio is mind boggling.

hm

wish i were more disciplined, like my brother

last few words
i've been dreaming of a long drive somewhere- perhaps myself. we'll see
